For over 40 years, General Lucky Eluonye Onyenuchea Irabor CFR (Retired) served the Nigerian Army (1983–2023). A retired Nigerian army general and a former Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria. He was appointed by Muhammadu Buhari on 26 January 2021.

Awards
In October 2022, a Nigerian national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (Retired) CFR was conferred on him by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Early Life
General Irabor was raised in a military family and had his early education at the Nigerian Military School, Zaria. He later attended the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1983.

Education
His education includes a BSc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University and Master’s degrees in International Affairs (University of Ghana) and Strategic Studies (Bangladesh University of Professionals). He is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers as well as Nigerian Institute of International Affairs.

The book, ‘SCARS: Nigeria’s Journey and The Boko Haram Conundrum, attempts to chronicle the diverse impact of Boko Haram on the Nigerian state. It is a catalogue of facts on Boko Haram gleaned from the first-hand experience I gained during my military command of the operations to address the threat of terrorism and insurgency in the North East region of Nigeria.
